Sermons A sermon is the preacher’s response to the readings for the day. Those who preach strive to be open to what the Word of God is saying to them on a particular Sunday, in regard to particular lessons, and in the context of the particular concerns people may be facing or the current events in the world. Preachers are often surprised to learn that indeed a person ‘got something’ out of the sermon but it was not what the preacher intended. There is no value-free space. We all see and hear out of our own experience. So preachers often learn that a person was moved by what they heard which might not even have been what was actually said. That’s the Holy Spirit at work in the world. Sermons are published for your reading convenience. You may have missed a Sunday and want to know what was said. Or maybe you heard something that resonated with your own life and want to see it in print. As you read, may you find words which give you inspiration, comfort, guidance, or even a challenge. Or may the words remind you of other events or people in your life that need your attention, your prayers. If you have any questions, please feel free to email the vicar at gigipriest@prodigy.net or make an appointment to meet at church by calling 845-901-1704.
