Our Goals as a Faith Community

A recent parish survey and discussion series has made clear that we are united in our desire to deepen our connections--with Christ, with one another, and with the world.

What would such a deepening look like?  Central to our vision is the filling of our pews with people from all walks of life, people from diverse backgrounds and orientations--and particularly with the young, who bring such a refreshing curiosity and candor.  Central, too, is the imaginative growth of our internal ministries--of our choir and altar guild--an the opening of our space for exhibitions of film and art.

Understanding that we are St. Gregory's, we seek to encourage the participation of lay people in all aspects of parish life, from the Eucharist to stewardship, from bible study to silent meditation and prayer.  We seek also to develop mutually-sustaining relationships with other parishes, and to re-commit ourselves to serving our neighbors, both near and far.

Our Next Rector

First and foremost, we desire a godly person, a person strong in faith and well-grounded in scripture.  We hope to find a preacher of range and power, someone who is a good storyteller--an eloquent educator who understands how to draw compelling connections between the stories of the Bible and our daily lives.

Our new rector must be accepting of diversity, capable of fostering each of us on our individual journey even as she encourages us to connect more lovingly with each other.  We seek a lover of the arts, and we would especially welcome a person who appreciates music and the essential role that music plays in the liturgy.  Administrative ability is an important consideration, too, as we--all of us--must pull together through these lean times.

In sum, we are looking for a spiritual leader who can comfort and inspire--a person in whom the Good News of Christ is alive and radiant.

Oh, and if you can make us laugh, why, so much the better!

We are a radically welcoming community for all persons regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or physical abilities
