Core Values |
WELCOMEWe welcome you to St. Gregory's church and website. St. Gregory's is a worshipping community open to all people regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or physical ability. In our church and meeting hall, in our garden and labyrinth, we seek to cultivate and maintain a spirit of radical acceptance and hospitality. Ours is a community in which to contemplate your individual journey of faith, while taking solace and strength from others who have committed themselves to live more fully into the teachings of Jesus Christ. Together, we celebrate what God has given to us in our worship, prayer and song, and through our varied ministries, we seek to be of service to others.Understanding that we are St. Gregory's, we seek to encourage the participation of lay people in all aspects of parish life, from the Eucharist to stewardship, from bible study to silent meditation and prayer. We seek also to develop mutually-sustaining relationships with other parishes, and to re-commit ourselves to serving our neighbors, both near and far. ST. GREGORY'S CORE VALUES—We welcome all people and celebrate the diversity of our community. ST. GREGORY - PATRON SAINT OF MUSICIANS, SINGERS, STUDENTS AND TEACHERSSt. Gregory's influence on the forms of public worship throughout Western Europe was enormous. He founded a school for the training of church musicians, and Gregorian chant (plainchant) is named for him. The schedule of Scripture readings for the various Sundays of the year, and the accompanying prayers (many of them written by him), in use throughout most of Western Christendom for the next thirteen centuries, is largely due to his passion for organization. His feast day is March 12. |
